How does Software Devil ranks software on the website?
Right now I am working on setting up multiple ranking algorithm. Also the main benefit of that will be, they will be changed every so often:
To make sure that visitors at Software Devil are presented with quality listings, we use an algorithm, which includes combination of:
Higher the better for following:
- Modification Date (When the listing was last modified, any listing modified within last 90 days get full points)
- User Rating (for ranking purpose, only unique ip's are counted)
- Number of Vote (for ranking purpose, only unique ip's are counted)
- Number of Review
- Review Rating
- Incoming Referrals: In last 180 days (incoming 'unique' hits from your domain (+ link) listed at Software Devil)
- Editors Rating (1 = nothing special. 5 = Awesome)
- Editors Review Note
- Admin Rating (Except Admin and editors, no one can view this. If Admin likes some Software they will generally receive higher rating, in the scale of 1 to 10)
- Admin Spam flag (rating from 1 to 10. All listings have default of 5. 5=default/normal. 1=worst. 10=best. Based on listings performance, this rating will be changed)
- Hits the listing receives
- Screen shots in a listing (number of screenshots matters - if you can't take screenshots, contact us and we might be able to help you)
Here are top 4 points in the order of importance:
- Admin Spam Flag
- Incoming Referrals
- Number of Review
- Modification Date
Here are few points that a listing owner can influence:
- Incoming Referral
- Number of Review
- Review Rating
- Modification Date
- User Rating
- Number of Votes
- Screen shots in a listing
